Day 1 Hosted Manasija, Resava Cave and Veliki Buk
Leave Belgrade for the Resava valley. Visit Manasija, the fortified monastery of Despot Stefan Lazarević, then Resava Cave, where a guided path leads through halls of flowstone and stalactites, and the waterfall of Veliki Buk at Lisine. In the late afternoon, cross the hills into the Homolje basin to your hosts near Žagubica.

Belgrade – Manasija – Resava Cave – Lisine – Žagubica; winding roads in the last section. Damp, sometimes slippery paths in the cave, where it is about 7 °C all year.

Day 2 Hosted The Mlava spring and the beekeepers
Walk from Žagubica to the spring of the Mlava, a deep karst pool that changes colour with the light. Later, meet a local beekeeper, where this can be arranged, to see the hives and taste Homolje honey with bread, cheese and home produce.

Day 3 Into the Homolje mountains
Walk with a local guide through the forests and high pastures of the Homolje mountains, where herds have traditionally been taken up for the summer. Stop for a picnic with views over the basin and return to your hosts for dinner.

Day 4 Hosted Village life and traditions
Spend the day in the Homolje villages with local families: cooking together, visiting a workshop or a shepherd's hut, and hearing the stories, songs and customs of the Serbian and Vlach communities. The afternoon is free, and dinner is a farewell meal with your hosts.

Day 5 Krupaj spring and back to Belgrade
On the way back, stop at Krupaj Spring, where cold, clear water rises from a flooded cave at the foot of Beljanica. Continue to Belgrade, arriving in the afternoon.

Homolje honey is protected in Serbia by a registered indication of geographical origin. Where it can be arranged, a visit to a local beekeeper shows you the hives, how the bees are kept through the year and the difference between the season's honeys.
